## The Hook

Dyad is a desktop app for prompt-to-app building like Lovable or Bolt, except the project lives on your disk and the model calls go through your own API keys.

## What's Good

Apache-2.0 outside `src/pro` (dyad-sh/dyad). Download for Mac or Windows, no sign-up required. Bring your own AI keys, so no vendor lock-in on models. Generated apps are ordinary local code you can open in your editor and push wherever you like. Active community at r/dyadbuilders. ★~21.8k.

## The Catch

Not all of it is Apache: code in `src/pro` is fair-source under FSL-1.1, so check that directory before you fork or resell. You pay your own model provider for every generation. Desktop app for Mac and Windows per its README — Linux is not called out. Vs hosted v0/Lovable/Bolt: you trade their one-click hosting for local control.
