## The Hook

dasel is one selector syntax when the file might be JSON today and YAML tomorrow and you refuse to learn two DSLs.

## What's Good

MIT. TomWright/dasel (Go). Query, put, delete, and convert across JSON, YAML, TOML, XML, CSV, and friends with a unified selector. Docs at daseldocs.tomwright.me; source github.com/TomWright/dasel.

## The Catch

Vs yq (jq-shaped multi-format Go CLI) and jq (JSON filter language): dasel is *one selector* across formats, not a jq dialect clone and not YAML-only muscle memory. Learn dasel’s selector docs; do not assume every jq filter ports. Distinct from Miller (tabular verbs).

## Verdict

MIT multi-format selector. Free forever; one syntax when the document format keeps changing.
