## The Hook

celld is Deno’s self-hosted runtime for Durable Objects — stateful, single-threaded actors addressed by name — alongside Workers, KV, Queues and D1-style SQL and R2-style object storage primitives, on infrastructure you run.

## What's Good

Apache-2.0 (denoland/celld), release v0.6.2. Gives you the Durable Objects programming model without being tied to one edge platform, and spreads objects across a cluster of nodes. Useful for chat rooms, collaborative documents, rate limiters and other per-entity state. ★~5.4k.

## The Catch

Pre-1.0, so expect API changes between releases. A write only counts as durable once it reaches S3-style object storage, so you need a bucket even for a small setup, and write latency depends on that store.

## Verdict

Durable Objects you can self-host — promising, but pin versions and plan for an object-storage bucket from day one.
