## The Hook

Caddy is the reverse proxy that gets TLS right before you open a config file.

## What's Good

Apache-2.0. Automatic HTTPS (Let us Encrypt / ZeroSSL) by default. Reverse proxy, static file server, extensible with modules. One binary. Coolify/CapRover assume a proxy — this is often that proxy.

## The Catch

Encyclopedia-adjacent but was absent while Coolify/CapRover assume a proxy. Caddy is the proxy, not the PaaS. Not nginx with a friendlier name — ACME-first defaults are the product.

## Verdict

Apache-2.0 auto-HTTPS proxy. The missing piece under self-host PaaS.
