## The Hook

ByteStash is a self-hosted web app for storing, organising and searching your code snippets, with a built-in MCP endpoint so AI assistants can search and manage them too.

## What's Good

GPL-3.0 (jordan-dalby/ByteStash), release v1.6.0 (2026-10-16). React and Node.js, SQLite by default or PostgreSQL via DATABASE_URL. Filter by language or content, share snippets, and connect Claude or other assistants over MCP with your existing API key. Available as Docker Compose, on the Unraid app store and on PikaPods. ## The Catch

Small project with a single main maintainer, so expect a narrower feature set than a full wiki. The MCP endpoint gives an assistant write access to your snippets, so scope the API key. GPL-3.0 if you redistribute modified versions.
