## The Hook

Bun is the all-in-one JS toolkit when Node plus a separate installer/test/bundler stack is the tax you want to delete.

## What's Good

MIT (JSC linked). Runtime, package install, test runner, and bundler in one binary. Node-compat target with speed as the pitch. Joined Anthropic; OSS stays MIT.

## The Catch

Node-compat is not 100%. Joined Anthropic — watch ecosystem/governance noise, but license remains MIT. Not Deno. Some packages still assume Node quirks.

## Verdict

MIT JS toolkit. Free forever; Node parity is the real catch.
