## The Hook

awslabs/mcp is the AWS Labs collection of service-specific MCP servers — documentation, CDK, Lambda, DynamoDB, cost analysis and many more — each one installable on its own.

## What's Good

Apache-2.0 (awslabs/mcp), with frequent dated releases. Pick only the servers you need, run them with uvx or Docker, and they use your normal AWS credentials and IAM permissions. The documentation server alone helps any agent writing AWS code.

## The Catch

It is a monorepo where each server is installed and configured separately, so wiring up several means several entries in your MCP config. AWS bills normally for whatever the tools do — an agent that creates resources creates real charges. Vs agent-toolkit-for-aws (plugins, skills and a single AWS CLI MCP proxy in one package): this is the catalogue of individual, service-specific servers.

## Verdict

The official AWS MCP catalogue — install only the servers you need and scope IAM tightly.
